Environmental & Sustainability Policy

This policy applies to all activities undertaken by skentel Group Limited and impacts upon key suppliers and customers.
skentel Group Limited recognises that it has a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods, with regular review points. We will encourage customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to do the same.
In particular, we will achieve this through our commitment to:
- Comply with all relevant legislation and regulations
- Regularly review the environmental impact of our activities, endeavour to reduce our overall environmental impact and prevent waste using best practice techniques.
- Involve employees in our environmental programme and provide necessary training to enable them to discharge their responsibilities
- Sustain a programme of continual improvement in environmental performance incorporating suitable measurement and monitoring mechanisms
- Incorporate environmental factors into business decisions
- Work with key suppliers to encourage them to develop environmental best practice
- Improve resource efficiency (including our use of water, energy and raw materials)
- Utilise our knowledge and skills in energy monitoring & management systems and the Internet of Things to help our own company, our clients and our community to reduce carbon emissions and eliminate waste.
Operations and Purchasing
We are committed to:
- Minimise the use of paper accross the business
- Minimise the use of packaging in our operations
- Buy recycled or recyclable products where possible
- Favour more environmentally friendly and efficient products where possible
- Use local suppliers where possible
- Evaluate the environmental impact of items as part of the purchasing process
- Evaluate rental or sharing options before purchasing equipment
- Seek to reduce the amount of energy used where possible
- Switch off lights and electrical equipment when not in use
- Recycle or reuse everything we can throughout the business
- Cleaning products will be as environmentally friendly as possible
- Only use licensed and appropriate organisations to dispose of waste
Transport
We are committed to:
- Reduce the need to travel, restricting to necessary travel only
- Promote the use of travel alternatives, such as email, phone, video conferencing and remote support
- Promote car-sharing, such as car-sharing with partners to corporate events
- Promote the use of public transport, walking, and cycling as alternative commuting transport to cars
Waste
We are committed to:
- Ensuring we comply with all legislation and regulations for waste management
- Review business activities to reduce waste
- Minimise waste going to landfill. We will achieve this by:
– Re-using any packaging received with deliveries, including the cardboard to create shredded cardboard void fill. – Composting all food waste – Where we are unable to reuse items, recycling as much as possible – Refurbishing as many recovered electronics as possible to re-use – Use WEEE Charity for all electronics we are unable to refurbish as they strip down electronics to reuse as many parts as possible, use the items for training and only dispose responsibly of what is not possible to re-use.
Policy implementation and reviews
The General Manager, Sadie Nelson, is responsible for ensuring this environmental & sustainability policy is implemented. However, all staff have a responsibility to ensure this policy is enacted in their area of the business.
